On Pentecost Sunday May 23rd, the Chair of the Wales Synod, Revd. Dr. Stephen Wigley shared in a special service with Revd. Tony Huxtable, minister at Pontnewynydd, to dedicate two tapestries created by Mrs. Jillian Osmond Nicholls for the Church. The tapestries are to commemorate Jillian’s great-grandparents, Albert and Priscilla Osmond, who were members at Pontnewynydd, and take as a theme the opening lines of Cardinal Newman’s famous hymn, ‘Praise to the Holiest in the height and in the depths be praise.’ They also replace the old inscription above the communion table which was destroyed in the previous fire at the Church. The photo shows Stephen Wigley and Tony Huxtable with Jillian Nicholls at Pontnewynydd with the two tapestries on either side.
