Spirit Choir raises £2,000 for Mayor’s Charity
The Spirit Choir handed over a cheque for £2,000 for the Mayor of Torfaen’s Charity Fund, following a concert held on June 12th.
The Spirit Choir hold a large fundraising concert every year and this year was their Tenth Anniversary Concert. Joining the Spirit Choir were the Eisteddfod-winning male voice choir, the Gwalia Singers, from Swansea. They performed to a packed Workmen’s Hall in Blaenavon to great acclaim.
The Mayor of Torfaen, Councillor Tom Huish, was thrilled with the response to the fundraising concert and was delighted with the amount raised. As it was one of the first fundraising events of his term of office, it was good to launch the appeal fund with such a large amount.
The Spirit Choir are based in Victoria Village, Abersychan, and rehearse every Monday evening. They are currently working towards their next concert, a musical theatre based on the life of Jesus.
