This afternoon at 2 pm we have a service at Llanelly Cemetary Gilwern. This service led by Rev Dr Stephen Wigley the Chair of the Wales Synod of The Methodist Church of Britain will be to rebury the remains of those people who were originally buried at 'Lion Chapel' a building that was once a Primitive Methodist Church. The chapel was unused for many years and due to the recent widening of the A465 had to be demolished. This meant the graves also had to be moved.

The statement from The Methodist Church for this occassion is as follows :

"The chapel where these bodies were originally buried has not been within our control for many years. However, when these people passed away there was an expectation that the remains would be treated with dignity, care and respect. Today we are going to honour that expectation by reburying the remains at their new location, with Christian love.

I still have a few of the special stamp covers that the Methodist Philatelic Society produced to commemorate the visit of our President, Steven Wild, to the Big Sing at Blackwood Methodist Church in March.

Please send me a Facebook Message if you would like one

    Blessings

    Geoffrey
